Andy Benevides is a relatively young man who's life took a dramatic turn for the worst. He wasn't like most people who are stricken by illnesses that requires routine treatment from a physician.

Andy needed a heart. A new heart because his was no longer able to sustain him. Through a gift of life Andy was given a new lease on his. He was the recipient of a heart by a donor.

On Saturday October 3rd Andy was among several other people just like him. People who had received organs or played a crucial role in donating. People like Judy Goodwell who donates blood and platelets on a regular basis.

They took part in the annual Lone Star Circle of Life. It's an annual bike ride put on by Houston's Life Gift. An organization that connects donors with recipients in our community.

Just under twenty riders took a historical journey to bring attention to the importance of organ donations. This year the trek takes the bikers on a week long journey from Houston to San Antonio to spread the message.
