Kidney transplant donors and recipients will be honored at tonight's West Virginia Power baseball game as part of the fourth annual Power of Organ Donation Night. Transplant families were part of a luncheon earlier today sponsored by CAMC. Transplant Coordinator Alice Jones says 901 transplants have been done in Charleston since 1987, but the need remains great. There are approximately 179 local adults and children on the waiting list to receive a kidney transplant. Jones says the transplant families have a common bond. She says it's good for them to get together and share their stories. A mother and father from North Carolina were the special speakers at Friday's luncheon. They shared the story of their son, a former mascot at the University of North Carolina, who was an organ donor.
